Baby Diapers
These ones are must-have to every mom because honestly it is impossible and unimaginable not to cover your newborn on a daily basis even if you’re a stay at home mom.
We have cloth diapers and disposable diapers. Choosing between either of these is a personal decision that is tied to your preference. We also have diapers that are made for sensitive skin while others are best for blowouts and night time.
Clothing
The type of clothing you’ll buy will depend on the baby’s gender. However, this is never a concern to newborns. Our must-have are the basic items like socks, trousers, hats and sleep sacks to name but a few.
The reason why I have stated sleep sacks is because I detest swaddle blankets as they are not safe for an infant. You should be careful because the lose blankets may twist on your baby or cover their face to interfere with their breathing.
Diaper Bag
Typically, you’ll require a lot of baby gears for use when you want to go out on vocation or at grandma’s place with your little angel.
The best thing about a diaper bag is that it is exclusively designed for diapering needs. This bag is made with multiple compartments and you can dedicate each pocket to particular items.
For example, there are insulated pockets for milk bottles and separate compartments for wet wipes, towels, changing pads and more.
Baby Playpen
As the baby starts to crawl, acquisition of a baby playpen will be very crucial. If you’re a busy mom, a playpen is vital to contain your baby as you undertake the household chores. It’s the best way to keep your baby away from potential risks. (Read more on baby playpens on this comprehensive blog)
Baby Monitor
With a baby monitor, you will be able to tell how your baby is and if they are safe or not. You will have peace of mind because you’ll be able to know if your baby is crying, choking or spitting up even in the dead of the night.
We have cheap baby monitors but I’d recommend a video monitor since you can literally see your baby from other rooms and monitor their progress as you get other things done within the house.
Baby Bath Tubs
Even though babies do not work, they excrete just like anyone else. They need a bath to refresh and feel at ease. We have birth tubs for newborns, infants and toddlers. Others like Shnuggle baby bath tub are made to grow with your baby.
When looking for a baby bath tub, see if the bath tub will be useful for a long time and if the bath tub is made to fit in standardized sinks for easy refilling and bathing.
Baby Swings
This one has been our life saver. We have other swings like reflux swings but our favorite has been a baby swing for sleeping. The best thing about it is that it is comfortable and your angel can have a short nap as you get things done within your space.
The main downside is that these swings are pricey and you should be ready to part away with not less than 100$ if you’re looking for quality.
Honestly, there are a host of gears you’ll need in your nursery and identifying the basic items can be intimidating to new moms. However, I have tried to keep the list simple and basic.
As a matter of fact, the needs will vary on every mom and the best thing you'll need to do is invest in necessities and what you actually need.
